Hair trends taking spring & summer by storm

This Spring and Summer is about much more than blonde shades we typically see in warmer months. There are a couple of common themes across this season’s hair trends. Many of the colours and styles taking the hair world by storm, are all about low-maintenance and embracing the type of hair you already have.

Some classic styles such as the bob are getting a modern make-over. There is also a nod to retro and 90s styles.

So what’s on trend this season?

Bobs with a twist

When we say bobs are back with a twist, we’re not necessarily talking about curl-like twists.

Bobs are looking edgier whether it’s with a bit of texture or voluminous ends. Some popular bob cuts we’re seeing have little length variation at the front or back, that is, they are the one length all the way around.

Alternatively, you may opt for a tapered chop. For an effortless look, you can scrunch up layers and create a beachy vibe.

Super-short bobs are also on-trend. Whether it’s straight and polished, blunt, or textured and wavy, this style can suit a range of face shapes and hair types.

Add some texture

In a blast from the past, the shag cut is making a comeback. Layered shag cuts add texture and interest and can bring your existing cut immediately into the now.

This season’s shag cut is a lot softer than the traditional shag. Layers are more blended and the overall look is softer.

‘Long’-ing for summer

Super long hair and long fringes are making a splash this season. We are seeing super long mermaid tresses again, with a few shorter layers around the face to add movement.

If you want to keep your hair long this summer, it’s important you invest in high quality products and treatments, and get your hair regularly trimmed to maintain hair health and length.

‘Short’-cuts to easy hair

Summer is a great time to opt for short hair cuts. They can be low maintenance and require little styling. They are the perfect choice if you want hair that dries quickly and creates little fuss.

One of this season’s favourite ‘short-cuts’ is the pixie. The right pixie cut can incorporate softness and texture without looking too severe or over-styled. Speak to your hairdresser about the right pixie cut to give you a carefree look that is on trend this summer.

Blonde shades for everyone

The warmer months are when many clients want to go lighter. Fortunately there are a load of blonde options with a shade to suit almost everyone. This season, popular blonde hues include strawberry blonde – blonde with subtle rose or copper undertones – which is a flattering shade for many different complexions.

At the other end of the spectrum this season is Scandi blonde. This pure blonde shade is almost pearl white and suits fairer skin tones.
