Blonde in almost any shade is topping the hair colour trends for Autumn/Winter 2017 and Bulimba’s B Hair team is excited.
As one of Brisbane’s Best Hairdressers for Blondes, voted by Style Magazine we are all over this season’s trend for fairer locks.
This autumn and winter offer a great choice of blonde hair colors – with something to suit every skin tone and style.
Style and fashion website, Fashionisers.com, reports that everything from strawberry blonde to ash, dirty blonde and platinum (vanilla ice-cream) have been dominating the Fashion Week runways around the world.
“This may appear intriguing, but practically all shades of blonde are more than acceptable for the fall and winter seasons.”
Looking to the celebs for inspiration, Michelle Williams has been completely rocking it with her short blonde crop, and Margot Robbie’s gorgeous longer locks are simply divine.
Bronde trend not going anywhere
Love or hate the term ‘bronde’, this trend seems set to stick around for the season as well.
Blondey brown or browny blonde can be extremely flattering on most skin tones.
Bespoke combinations of darker blonde and lighter hues can be created to really make your features pop.
Ombre a great option for darker hair
Got dark hair? Never fear, there’s no reason you can’t join the blonde brigade.
Ombre uplights are perfect for darker hair colours, adding depth and texture and an overall caramel look or honey blonde tones, as favoured by Jessica Alba and Beyonce.
The key benefit of this look is that it mimimises dark root re-growth issues. Fashion watchers warn though to maintain restraint with highlights this season, focusing on softness and “embracing the warmth on your complexion”.
Want to try something a little different? Try Blorange
If you like strawberry blonde, or 2016’s rose gold, but it’s not daring enough for you, then blorange may be just the thing for you.
Described as a fusion of blonde and orange, this on-trend citrus colour holds shades of ruby red, orange and maroon.
From sunset-inspired locks all the way through to peach and apricot, blorange is being dubbed as “universally flattering” with shades to complement both warm and cool skin tones.
Shades of Grey
Grey and silver hair announced itself in a big way at the end of 2016, with scores of social media users donning silver toned wigs.
The real thing though can be a little harder to achieve and maintain, but is possible if you are ready to commit to this on-trend colour.
Your hair will need to be professionally bleached (possibly twice depending on how dark your hair is) and then a grey or silver dye applied on top.
Not for the faint-hearted, silver hair is best left to the highly experienced colourists, who will also advise you on how to keep your hair in tip-top condition between visits.
Coming back from the dark side
Going from a dark colour (whether natural or dyed) to a light blonde overnight is a bold move.
Sometimes it’s better to evolve your colour gradually, or try some soft highlights instead.
An experienced colourist will consider whether it’s possible to make the transformation and if so, what blonde is most complementary to your eye colour and skin tone.
During your consultation they should ask you to consider what time and money you are willing to dedicate to return appointments and at-home treatments.
They will also need to consider your hair health and how much damage going lighter will do to your hair.
If your hair is already coloured or damaged, any colouring needs to be handled by a professional and with extreme caution. You may even need to cut down on your use of heating tools.
Don’t be discouraged though.
With the right advice and care, it should be completely possible to go some shade of blonde.
